Tiger Haven is a Sanctuary and Rescue facility for big cats, much like an animal shelter for dogs and house cats - except that we are a "no kill" facility. And, the cats who come here for sanctuary are given a permanent home. They are not sold, transferred or given away. They are not used for breeders, and they don't work for a living.

The cats here enjoy the good life, and they deserve it.

We are in dire need of a couple of Golf Carts to get around the 50 acres that the cats live on.  We like to use the carts since they are quite and don't scare the cats, but we have worn the wheels off the ones we have!! We don't care what the body looks like, just as long as they will get us up the hill!!  If you know of anyone who has one is a garage somewhere, maybe they would like to donate it for a tax deduction.

Rani and Sissy arrive from Nebraska !!

The picture below is from the facility the cats were picked up from.

After a very long and difficult trip, 2 female tigers, Rani and Sissy, arrived at Tiger Haven's gates March 3rd at 9 pm.  Another rescue facility had been promising for 6 months to pick up the 2 cats which were under the watch of Nebraska wildlife officials, but remained on the owners property for lack of anywhere else for them to go.  The cages were so flimsy that the officers said they were going to have to euthanize, they could not wait any longer.  Tiger Haven was call by a animal rehabber who knew the officers and knew of Tiger Haven.  Even though we are very short staffed at this time, we sent two people in a borrowed horse trailer, since our trailer is being renovated.  Our moving cages would fit in the trailer, and our truck could pull the trailer.  The trip up was uneventful, but the wheel on the trailer froze and caught fire on the way back in Moussori, at night and 20 miles from a exit.  Thanks to some very helpful State Troopers and a very caring tractor trailer wrecker service, they were back on the road by mid-morning.  Good thing since there were tornado warnings for that day.  All went well until 50 miles from home when the truck began having mechanical problems.  Since they were close enough, we sent our other truck for the trailer and one of the employees sons borrowed a wrecker for the truck.  Sissy traveled pretty well considering all the events, but poor Rani was terrified of the whole event.  These poor cats were out of time.  They were on borrowed time because another place had promised to give them a home but never came through.  Although it will add to the strain we are already under, we were not able to turn our heads and let their lives be taken.  We will needed all the help we can find to build these girls and facility they so deserve.  If you can help in anyway, please help these girls.  Small donations add up, and if enough people care, Rani and Sissy can live the rest of their lives with fresh water, food, a clean enclosure, and people who really care about them.

Tiger Haven is now home to 275 Great Cats. We receive NO funding from the State or Government. Our only source of funding is from you, the public. We feed over 2000 pound of meat and chicken to the cats each day, none of which is donated. It takes a lot of hard work and money to take care of this many cats, but if they had not been taken by Tiger Haven, most all of them would have been “put down”. We are the last chance for these cats. Believe me, if there was anywhere for the Great Cats to live out their lives safe and comfortably, I would not have 275 of them to feed and take care of. Even though we love each one of them, it is extremely hard to feed, water, clean and take care of the medical needs of this many cats.
